The Beginning of an Awakening
If you’re going through a spiritual awakening, there are going to be a lot of changes happening to you, and most people are not prepared for how intense that can feel. Your thoughts can change, your emotions can shift, and your awareness of the world around you can feel completely different. Even your sense of who you are can start to feel unfamiliar. You might feel like something is happening to you, but you do not really understand what it is or why it is happening, and that alone can feel unsettling.
Spiritual awakenings can be scary. When things start changing inside you and around you, and no one has explained what this process actually looks like, it can feel overwhelming very quickly. In this post, I want to help you understand what spiritual awakening really is and, more importantly, how to work with it so you feel like you have some control instead of feeling lost inside the experience.
A spiritual awakening is when you begin to realize there is more to existence than just the human, physical world. You start to become aware that you have a consciousness, that you have a soul, and that there are other energies and beings that exist beyond what you may have believed before. For some people, this awareness shows up as psychic abilities turning on or becoming stronger. You might start feeling other people’s emotions, sensing energy, seeing things, hearing things, or suddenly knowing information you did not have before.
For many people, this happens suddenly. You can go from not believing in anything spiritual at all to experiencing things that feel impossible to explain. I once met someone who did not believe in spirituality or the paranormal in any way, and then one day she began seeing things physically with her eyes. She described seeing what looked like paper cutouts of beings, but she knew there were different types of beings behind them. She was seeing this constantly. She thought she was losing her mind. She could not drive, she had to quit her job, and her entire world was turned upside down. We had to teach her how to understand and manage her psychic abilities because she went from disbelief to being fully clairvoyant almost overnight. That is a spiritual awakening.
For other people, it happens more gradually. The changes build over time instead of switching on all at once. You might notice abilities becoming stronger, awareness expanding, or sensitivity increasing little by little. Either way, it can feel intimidating when your reality starts shifting faster than you can process it.
Spiritual awakenings are not a one-time event. They happen in stages throughout your life. I like to think of them as transitions. Picture it like this: you are standing on one level, and there is another level above you. To get there, you have to go up a flight of stairs. While you are on the stairs, you are not on the old level anymore, but you are also not fully on the new one yet. That in-between space is where things can feel unstable, overwhelming, and confusing.
Some people move up one level at a time. Others experience a bigger jump. If you already have spiritual awareness or abilities and you are on what feels like level four, a spiritual awakening can suddenly move you to level seven. That kind of jump can feel intense because your awareness, abilities, and perception shift faster than your nervous system and daily life can keep up with. You are gaining skills, insight, and awareness, but the transition itself can feel bumpy and disorienting while you are moving between levels.
What Happens During Awakening
If this is happening to you and you are going through a spiritual awakening or a transition, it can feel difficult because so much is changing at once. Your mind, your body, and your energy are all shifting at the same time, and that can be a lot to manage while you are still trying to live your everyday life.
One thing that often happens during awakening is that psychic abilities become stronger. If you already have abilities, they tend to intensify. It is almost like an upgrade in a video game where you go up a level and suddenly have access to more information. You might notice that abilities you naturally had become sharper, or you might start developing new ones. For example, maybe you always just knew things, which is claircognizance, and now you are starting to see things, which is clairvoyance. That shift happens because your awareness is expanding as you move through the transition.
Spiritual awakenings can also show up physically, which surprises a lot of people. You might feel extremely tired, irritable, or unusually hungry. Headaches or migraines are common, especially at the top of the head or the forehead. Those sensations often happen when the crown chakra or the third eye chakra is becoming more active. If you are developing energy healing abilities, your hands can ache or hurt as those abilities strengthen. You might also experience general body aches as your energy system adjusts.
Another part of this process is that old energy stored in the body does not always work with the new level you are moving into. That energy has to leave, and sometimes it leaves through physical symptoms. You can get sick during awakenings. You might catch a cold or the flu that lasts much longer than normal. You go to the doctor, and they tell you it should be gone by now, but it is not. That can happen because your energy is shifting and clearing through the body.
Awakening can also make being around people difficult. When your system is open and sensitive, crowded places can feel like too much. I went through awakenings in my twenties where being in bars or clubs caused sensory overload. There was so much energy coming in that it became overwhelming. That kind of overload can make you irritable, cranky, or angry because your system is taking in more than it can handle.
Fatigue is another big part of awakening. Your body is changing how it processes energy, so you need more rest. Sometimes awakenings are so intense that working a regular job becomes hard. I went through one transition where I was dizzy and could not function for a while. Then I got sick. After that, I had strong pulsating sensations at the top of my head and repeating waves of energy moving through my chest and body. It was exhausting and disruptive, and it made everyday life difficult.
This is why spiritual awakening can feel so overwhelming. When everything is changing at once, it can be hard to understand what is happening or how to move through it while still trying to function in your normal life.
Awakening Gets Confused for Something Else
One of the biggest misunderstandings about spiritual awakening is thinking something is medically wrong with you. When you start having a lot of physical symptoms, it is natural to assume something is wrong with your body. You feel dizzy, disoriented, exhausted, or unwell, so you go to the doctor looking for answers.
Most of the time, the doctor cannot find anything clearly wrong. Tests come back normal, and there is no clear explanation for why you feel the way you do. At that point, you may get referred to a psychologist because it gets labeled as stress, anxiety, or something happening in your head. The problem is that what you are experiencing is not just mental. It is happening in your body and your energy system at the same time.
If you are naturally spiritual in any way, spiritual awakenings or transitions are going to happen more than once in your life. You will go through smaller transitions that are subtle and short, maybe lasting a day or two, and you might barely notice them. Bigger awakenings are different. Those are the ones that can disrupt your life and make everything feel unstable.
During a larger awakening, you can feel dizzy, confused, exhausted, or physically unwell. You might have body pains, headaches, migraines, or feel sick more often than usual. It makes sense to want to rule out medical causes, and if you think something might be wrong, you should get yourself checked out. If doctors do not find anything wrong, then it becomes important to look at what else could be happening.
When you are going through a spiritual awakening, it can feel very emotional as well. You might cry more easily. You might feel anxious, irritable, angry, or depressed. At the same time, your life can start shifting in ways that feel chaotic. Your job might change, relationships can fall apart, your car breaks down, or your living situation suddenly shifts, and it can feel like everything is unraveling at the same time.
What is actually happening is a transition. You are being moved from one path to another. That shift can feel disruptive and uncomfortable while it is happening, especially when it affects your health, emotions, and stability all at once. The experience can look medical, emotional, or like a series of problems, even though it is part of a larger change.
Understanding this matters. When your awakening gets confused for something else, you can spend a lot of time searching for the wrong answers instead of learning how to work with the transition you are actually in.
What Actually Helps
So how do you move through a spiritual awakening in a way that feels more manageable? The key is learning how to work with the process instead of fighting it. When you fight it, everything feels harder. When you understand what to do, you start to get more control over what you are going through.
The first thing you need to learn is spiritual meditation. This is visualization-based meditation, and it is not just about sitting quietly or calming your mind. This is where you learn how to meditate in a way that lets you connect to the spirit world. Meditation becomes your main tool for everything. It helps you understand what you are tapping into energetically right now, and it gives you more control over your growth instead of feeling like things are just happening to you.
The next thing you need to learn is how to protect yourself. Right now, during a spiritual awakening, you are like a sponge. You are pulling in energy from every person you pass, every place you go, and every environment you step into. That energy gets pulled into your chakras, into your aura, and into your body. This makes the transition harder because while your body is trying to release old energy, you are also picking up new energy from the world around you. Learning how to protect yourself stops that from happening and makes the whole process easier.
After protection, you have to learn how to clear your energy. What your body is already trying to do during awakening is purge out old energy. This can be emotional pain, trauma, heartbreak, toxic relationships, or heavy energy from places you have lived or visited. Your chakras naturally absorb energy, and if you have never learned how to clear them, they can hold a lot of old stuff. Your aura, which acts like a protective layer around you, can also be filled with energy from other people and places. Learning how to clear your chakras and your aura is a huge part of stabilizing this transition.
You also need to start clearing the energy between you and other people. Old connections, unresolved relationships, and emotional ties can weigh you down energetically. When you are going through an awakening, your body tries to push that energy out, which is why it can feel so intense. Clearing that energy helps you move forward instead of feeling pulled backward.
Another important step is learning how to remove spiritual attachments. The more psychic and aware you become, the more noticeable you are energetically. You become like a bright light in the dark. Ghosts and other beings are drawn to that light, even if you are not aware of them. Psychic people almost always have attachments unless they know how to remove them and protect themselves properly. If you do not deal with this, those attachments can make awakenings much harder and more draining.
Once you have learned how to meditate, protect yourself, clear your energy, and remove attachments, then you need to start working with your spirit guides. Meditation helps you connect with them directly. Your spirit guides help you understand why you are on this path and what direction you are being led in. Communicating with them gives you guidance instead of feeling like you are guessing your way through the process.
All of this matters because during a spiritual awakening, you are raising your vibration. Your vibration is the frequency your energy naturally vibrates at. Everything is energy, and energy moves at different frequencies. When your vibration is lower, life tends to feel heavier, with more struggles and challenges. As your vibration rises, your energy becomes lighter and clearer, and you start moving closer to higher spiritual states, including angelic levels of awareness. That is what is happening during a spiritual awakening. Your energy frequency is changing.
If you are vibrating at a lower level right now and transitioning to a higher one, the uncomfortable symptoms show up while you are in between those levels. The shaky, bumpy part happens during the transition. Once you settle into the higher level, things calm down.
This is also why you cannot keep picking up other people’s energy, ghosts, or attachments. Those energies act like anchors, keeping you locked into an older level while you are trying to move forward. If they are not cleared, they make the awakening feel much worse.
Learning how to do this does not mean the process becomes perfect or easy, but it does put it back in your control. Instead of feeling like your life is happening to you, you start working with the transition in a way that feels more steady, grounded, and manageable.
From Confusion to Direction
When you start learning how to do these steps, something important shifts. You move from feeling like this is something happening to you, to understanding that this is a process you can actually work with. Instead of feeling lost, confused, or overwhelmed, you start to recognize what is happening and why it is happening.
That shift matters because it changes how you experience the awakening itself. You go from feeling out of control to feeling like you have direction. You may still be moving through change, but you are no longer guessing or reacting to everything as it comes up. You are working with the process instead of feeling dragged through it.
You can do this on your own by studying, learning, and slowly working your way through each step. That takes time, focus, and a lot of trial and error. Another option is to follow a structured path that already lays these steps out in order and supports you as you move through them.
That is where the Evolve Program comes in. I created it as a structured course specifically to teach these steps in sequence, with guided meditations and guidance built in, so you are not trying to piece everything together on your own. It exists for people who are going through this kind of awakening and want a clearer, steadier way to move through it.
If you feel like you are at that point and ready to work with this process instead of feeling overwhelmed by it, you can take a look at the Evolve Program and see if it fits where you are right now.
Seeing the Bigger Picture
By now, you should have a clearer understanding of what a spiritual awakening actually is. It is a transition you are moving through, where you are shifting from one level of awareness into a higher one. You are growing in your spiritual awareness, and you are being guided onto a path that is aligned with your growth.
This is not something negative happening to you. It is a good thing, even though it comes with a lot of symptoms while you are in the middle of it. Those symptoms show up during the transition itself. Once you have fully moved into the new stage, they begin to settle. What replaces them is more awareness, more connection, and often stronger intuitive or psychic abilities.
You are being led down a path for a reason. That path is connected to your soul and why you are here. This is a process you want to move through, not avoid. To do that, you need understanding, skills, and direction. You cannot move through a spiritual awakening randomly or without awareness. The more you understand what is happening, the more control you have over how you experience it.
It took me years to learn everything I teach around this process, and what I have done is organize it into a clear structure. That does not mean your path has to look exactly the same as anyone else’s. You may have other tools or practices that you want to include on your path, and that is fine. What matters is that you are actively working with the transition instead of feeling like it is happening to you.
The more you understand this process, the easier and smoother it becomes. You are not powerless here. You are part of the process, and you do have a say in how you move through it. If you feel ready for guidance and want to explore this in a more structured way, you can take a look at the Evolve Program and see if it fits what you need right now.
